The Village

Peel Cottage is located in Dilwyn – a north Herefordshire village that is part of its showpiece Black and White Village Trail. It has many half-timbered properties and at its heart is a village green, 17th century pub and spired church within a designated conservation area.

The village has a great sense of community – and a fighting spirit which in recent times has saved its school and pub – and there are frequent events organised by a range of clubs and societies which take place at the Crown Inn, Cedar Hall or in the school and its grounds. These range from coffee mornings to film nights, live music events and fundraisers.

The annual Dilwyn show is a highlight of the calendar and has a range of events, exhibits, competitions and activities every May.

St Mary’s Church has been the spiritual heart of the village for more than 800 years. It has a choir, bell ringers and regular services given by the Leominster team ministry. In 2011, its shingle covered spire was refurbished and a ceremony of rededication held.

Local events and services are listed on the Dilwyn Community Website or in the monthly Dilwynner magazine which is given away free at local outlets.
